The CC went over some basics of first aid techniques. Our hobbies and passions can put us in an area or situation that may require knowledge of how to tourniquet (as well as what the seriousness of that device is), how to improvise and stop bleeding, and other techniques of first aid from an outdoor perspective. Members can look into more by searching the web, buying field guides, survival books, downloading pdfs (like this one from American Red Cross) and other outlets. You can also take courses and classes in first aid. Any experience or knowledge will help if ever a situation of need were to arise.

By no means did our time at Activity Period qualify or certify any members. Preparedness and preparation also saves lives. Be sure to have a kit, know how to use that kit, and try to further your education in any related activity. Buy a first aid kit or build one that fits your needs. We discussed the importance of gear, whether a fisherman, hunter, hiker, or ATV rider, each will allow for different needs and different packability of your survival and first aid kit.
