Cold Snap Prep

As our area is pounded by Old Man Winter and we are reminded that not all winters are mild, the LCCTC CC has focused our discussions on Winter weather preparations. Mr. Banner went over some personal anecdotes about the importance of baselayers. Wind is a killer in these environments. Layer up!

Two mottoes I recall about Cold Weather survival:

Cotton Kills!

You Sweat, You Die!

Helpful tips mainly included types of insulation, fabric choices (wool is wise although it is heavy), pros and cons of fire starters (Banner carries road flares at all times), and that no equipment can replace a great skill. Know how to build shelters, start fires, signal, navigate, etc.. Bundle up!

As Mr. Simon requested, "stay inside. It's ridiculous out there." But we as hunters know that sometimes Nature's freezer can put some venison in our freezer!
